git status

5. Replacing the Removed Submodule with Files: If you wish to replace the removed submodule with its corresponding files, follow these steps:

  • Copy submodule files manually into the desired directory, e.g., cp ../tmp/my-submodule-file.txt sm/my-submodule-file.txt
  • Add the changes to the repository: git add .

6. Finalize the Repository:

git submodule deinit --all -f
git submodule init
git submodule update --recursive --remote

7. Push and Pull Carefully: Finally, remember to push your changes to the remote repository, and when pulling changes, do so with caution to avoid potential conflicts.

By following these steps, you can effectively remove Git submodules and manage your repository with confidence.
